L2P Program

L2P (Learner to Probationary)  is a community based volunteer program which provides access to driving practice for learner drivers who are struggling to achieve their mandatory 120 hours of driving practice towards their Probationary Licence.

Through the L2P program, learner drivers are matched with fully licensed community volunteers who have undertaken a selection and training process to become supervising drivers. Using a sponsored vehicle (used solely for the purpose of this program) the learner and their mentor go out driving once a week, working towards 120 hours of driving practice.

As well as the practical driving component of the program, we also deliver workshops and information sessions such as ‘Keys Please’, ‘Looking After your Mates’ and ‘Fit to Drive’ to all participants.

The L2P program also incorporates professional instruction by a registered driving instructor for the young participants, to ensure they have some driving skill on public roads before being matched with a volunteer mentor.

We are currently looking for young people who would like to be involved in the program and volunteer mentors who would be interested in helping a young person to achieve their 120 hours of driving practice.  For more information, contact Amanda Wiggs at Youth Services on 9294 6716 or fill out the form below.
