Young Parents & Kids Playgroup
The Young Parents & Kids Playgroup YP&K is for pregnant and parenting young mums and dads aged 25 years and under. A Playgroup is a group of parents and young children who meet regularly to participate in activities. YP&K meets each Tuesday during school term from 10am-12noon at the Rolling Hills Childcare Centre, Landscape Drive Mooroolbark.
Each term program is made up of ‘playgroup’ days and 2-3 activities per term. Playgroup days are free whilst activity days may involve a small cost depending on the activity.
The YP&K Playgroup offers a safe, relaxed, child-friendly play space with carefully selected experiences to build your child’s confidence, self-esteem and love of learning. The children will have fun together – share time, activities, play games plus sing rhymes together.
Play is the key way children learn about the world they live in! Playgroup provides an ideal way for children to try out new ideas, practice skills and play as many different roles as their imagination allows!
Your child’s interaction with other children is very important in the development of their speech and language and gives them an opportunity to develop and increase their social and communication skills including problem solving, cooperation and sharing.
Playgroup includes activities that are designed to meet the developmental needs of the children and incorporates both free-play and structured activities.
Playgroups are Fun! Its not only the children that will have a great time and learn new things – but parents will also enjoy Playgroup! The informality of Playgroup enables casual discussions between parents and a chance to share ideas, information and experiences whilst developing new friendships
Parents are also involved in the decision making of the group including choosing Playgroup themes, organising activities and setting group rules and expectations. Some of the activities have included a zoo trip, Fire truck visit, Swimming lesson for the children, library visit, Aquarium plus more.
So come along and have fun with loads of activities, information, play ideas, guest speakers, and a great opportunity to meet other parents. Morning tea is provided!
The Young Parents & Kids Playgroup is a partnership between Youth Services and EACH.
