Summer of Fun

Young people looking for something to do over the summer holidays are being encouraged to get involved in the Shire’s Youth Services Summer of Fun program.

Summer of Fun will run from 4 -25 January and hosts a range of activities for anyone between 12 – 25, who lives, works or studies in the shire.

Cr McRae said Summer of Fun was a great opportunity for young people to participate in a range of activities and enjoy their summer holidays.

“There are so many activities available and everyone is bound to find something they like,” Cr McRae said

Activities range from African drumming and dancing, caving, jewellery and badge making, break dancing workshops with Wicked Force, skate board and BMX tours, a Luna Park visit and even swimming with dolphins in Port Phillip Bay.

Cr McRae has encouraged P plate drivers and motorcyclists between 18 – 25 to take advantage of one of two road safety programs.

For just $20 P plate drivers are able to do a defensive driving course sponsored by the shire and M.E.T.E.C. While anyone interested in learning to ride a motorbike can take part in a free HART rider training course.

“It’s vital that our young people are able to drive safely and know how to handle difficult situations on the roads, and these courses offer them a cheap way to learn those skills,” Cr McRae said.

Anyone wanting to participate is encouraged to book now to avoid disappointment as many activities are filling fast

Brochures are available from any Community Link Centre however bookings must be made with Youth Services.
