Young Leaders Program

2008 Program Overview

 

The 2008 Young Leaders will bring together young people who live, work or study in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. Young Leaders will run between March and September 2008.

There are 3 main parts to the program:

EXPLORE!!!   Participants will develop important skills that will assist them to discover what is great about their community, including the opportunities and challenges that exist for young people.

ACTION!!!       Participants will work on projects they have identified in their local community. There will be opportunities for young people in the YLP to develop project management skills through hands on learning.

SUM UP!!!      Young people will have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, sum it all up and present findings to council.

The Young Leaders Program is for young people who are:

§      Aged 17 – 25 and live, work or study in the Shire of Yarra Ranges

§      Looking to develop skills in project and event management

§      Interested in leadership

§      Looking to make a contribution to their community

§      Want to get involved and make a difference

What is required of you?

  • Be a part of regular meetings, workshops and activities throughout the year
  • Develop and implement a project in your local community
  • Be able to work as a part of a group
  • Show interest and enthusiasm in achieving outcomes for your community

The 2008 program will bring together like minded people, develop skills in the participants, provide opportunities for community ACTION and be a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!
